About Project

The Heritage of Serbian Architectural Exports to African Countries website showcases six decades (1960–2024) of projects by Serbian architects and firms in Africa. Featuring a variety of typologies, scales, and design approaches, these projects reflect the collaboration initiated under the Non-Aligned Movement, founded in Belgrade in 1961. These works are significant not only to the African societies they serve but also to Serbian architectural history. In diverse climates and cultures, Serbian architects delivered a continuous and complex production, which held special economic importance during the latter half of the 20th century. This enduring presence on the African continent underscores the broader cultural and historical relevance of Serbian architecture.
