The website Heritage of Serbian Architectural Export to African Countries presents architectural and urban projects (conceptual solutions, competition works and implementations) by architects and firms from Serbia for African countries that were created in the past six decades – from 1960 to 2024. The selection of architectural achievements shows the representation of different typologies, scopes and types of projects, as well as design approaches.
The architectural and urban achievements presented on the website, in addition to being significant for the societies and environments for which they were created, also represent notable achievements in the oeuvres of architects from Serbia. The cooperation, which began under the auspices of the Non-Aligned Movement, founded in Belgrade in 1961, continues to this day.
The interactive map of Africa showcases architectural projects by Serbian architects from 1960 to the present. Each project is marked with a dot at its location, and clicking on a dot reveals detailed information, including the project name, typology, authors, location, year of creation, and current status.
The selection of 127 architectural projects, spanning from 1960 to the present, highlights the diverse contributions of Serbian architects in Africa. These works, ranging from realized structures to competition entries and conceptual designs, reflect evolving architectural trends, modernization efforts, and aspirations for social development.
